strange friends

It seems the rector is not the only one who is fond of a particular bit of glass that one is supposed not to like.
He’s such a fine beast. It’s a shame St Michael has to play out his role.

It’s too good to be just anybody - I’ll have another good look some time and see if I can identify it. Westlake signs his stuff, but not likely to be working for a Proddy church, I think. Lonsdale does not sign, but IIRC this has an architectural border - which more or less rules him out as he hates them. He never signs.
We could ring the changes with the pictures, and the Lonsdale (St Columba preaching to the Picts) is pretty and edifying

It might, of course, be that the splendid green person is in fact a cherub, and the devil is wearing white and prodding him. Presently, the cherub will rise up and defeat the horrid prodder.

Oh, I like that reading. Very subversive.
