collect for Trinity 14

10 September, 2007

Almighty God,
whose only Son has opened for us
a new and living way into your presence:
give us pure hearts and steadfast wills
to worship you in spirit and in truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

    It is such a shame that ‘they’ put the least remarkable piece of stained glass in the whole church behind the altar. The second window on the right hand side of the church is by Lonsdale (of Cardiff and Mount Stuart) - the dragon and St Michael in the choir is seriously good glass - though I don’t know for certain who it is by. Doubtless they owe their presence there to Jack Stewart’s contacts with Mount Stuart. But in pole position we get this unremarkable Transfiguration. One of life’s missed opportunities.

    I love the dragon too. But I worry about the signal we send if it becomes our flag-ship.
